Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday 24 October. Nicolas Jackson scored on 6 minutes from a John McGinn assist and again on 60 minutes from a low cross by substitute Ibrahim Mbaye.

Erling Haaland headed City level on 52 minutes from an Iliman Ndiaye cross. BBC Sport and The Guardian report the result ended City's 100% start after seven Premier League wins.

Jackson has seven goals in his first 11 appearances for Villa after a summer move from Chelsea worth up to £65m. BBC Sport says that includes six in his last six games.

The win was Villa's first home league win of the season and came on the fourth anniversary of Unai Emery's appointment. City remain level on 21 points with Arsenal after eight matches.
