Sporting CP lost 1-2 to Académico de Viseu at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon on Sunday 25 October in Liga Portugal matchday 9.
João Guilherme put Viseu ahead on 24 minutes, arriving at the far post to meet a cross from Robinho. Luis Suárez equalised on 62 minutes from an Iván Fresneda cross, and Guilherme struck again on 74 minutes from a Soufiane Messeguem cross, RTP and AS report.
Sporting hit the post three times. Maxi Araújo struck the base of the post twice and Suárez headed against it in stoppage time. A first-half penalty for a challenge on Araújo was overturned after a VAR review.
It was Sporting's first league defeat of the season and their second loss in a row in the same week, after a 3-2 home defeat to LASK in the Champions League. RTP reports fans waved white handkerchiefs at coach Rui Borges at full time.
Sporting are now nine points behind leaders FC Porto. Académico de Viseu moved to 17 points, one behind Sporting.
Suárez's goal was his tenth in ten straight games for Sporting this season, according to RTP, passing Héctor Yazalde's run of nine from 1973-74.
