Club América were held 1-1 by Tijuana in Mexico City in a rearranged Liga MX Apertura game that kicked off at 04:00 WAT on Thursday 29 October.

The matchday 7 fixture was moved from early September because América were playing in the Leagues Cup, where they finished fourth, Sporting News reports. It was played at the Estadio Azteca, now called Estadio Banorte.

Tijuana went ahead after 12 minutes. A mistake by Dagoberto Espinoza as América played out from the back let in Elias Manoel, and the Brazilian scored with a left-footed shot from outside the box, set up by Alejandro Gómez.

América were level on 19 minutes. Isaías Violante found Miguel Borja on the right of the area and the Colombian striker shot low across goal into the far corner. It was his sixth goal since joining Guillermo Almada's side, according to Bolavip's América site.

There were no more goals. Borja had two late chances in stoppage time, but one shot was blocked and the other went over, ESPN's match data shows.

The point keeps América top with 28 points from 14 games (eight wins, four draws, two defeats), two ahead of Cruz Azul and Guadalajara. Tijuana are seventh on 21 points.

Both teams are back in action early on Sunday 1 November, Nigerian time: Tijuana visit Monterrey at 02:05 WAT, and América host Toluca at 04:10 WAT.
