When and where is Slavia Prague v Arsenal?

Arsenal travel to the Fortuna Arena on Wednesday 4 November 2026 for matchday four of the Champions League league phase against Slavia Prague. Kick-off is 20:00 GMT, which is 21:00 WAT in Lagos, per Arsenal's official preview and BBC Sport's Arteta press conference report. It is Arsenal's second straight season facing Slavia on matchday four in Prague.

The Gunners are unbeaten in nine away Champions League matches stretching back to May 2025, including a 3-0 win in the Czech capital twelve months ago. Slavia have gone 22 Champions League matches without a win since their first fixture in 2007 and sit on one point from three league-phase games after a late draw at Fenerbahce, Arsenal.com reported.

Is William Saliba available?

William Saliba has travelled with the squad after returning to training from the back injury that has kept him out all season. Arteta told the Prague media, in the club's full transcript: "He's in a really good place. He played 45 minutes [behind] closed doors last week and he feels ready to go. So whether we use him or not now is a matter of what the team needs."

On load management for a centre-back, Arteta added: "Now he's in and he's in like anybody else. A centre-back normally has to be able to play 90 minutes and that's why all the preparation that we've done to build him." BBC Sport recorded him saying the process and timings have been "very, very positive" and that the staff now need "the right amount of minutes" for Saliba. That leaves selection open: available, not guaranteed to start.

Arteta also said Ezri Konsa can play full-back but that his main position is centre-back, and that having Saliba, Konsa and Gabriel fit together is "a luxury" that helps manage congestion across a jammed calendar rather than a problem.

Who else is out or back for Arsenal?

Bukayo Saka remains out with the thigh issue sustained against Bayern Munich, Arsenal's preview confirmed. Max Dowman is available again in Europe while he serves his domestic suspension after the red card at Fleetwood Town. Arteta said of Dowman: "That's a chapter that is gone. It's a moment of learning from all of us and we move on," and, asked whether the 16-year-old can start Champions League matches, replied that it is "a matter of a choice from my side to pick him."

Martin Zubimendi is "very important" but has been "a bit unlucky" with ankle and nose issues, Arteta said; he has had some minutes and remains in the midfield mix. Referee Tobias Stieler leads an all-German crew, with Soren Storks on VAR, per Arsenal.com.

What is the Slavia Prague team news?

Slavia's main marksman Tomas Chory has been internally disciplined after raising a middle finger at a referee last month and has not played since, Arsenal's preview stated. First-choice goalkeeper Jakub Markovic has missed the last three games with an injury but is back in training with influential winger Lukas Provod. Centre-back Ange N'Guessan, who limped off against Jablonec, is being monitored, and Ivan Schranz has sat out four weeks through illness. Igoh Ogbu, Elias Pitak, Hamidou Kante and Bryan Ouanda remain longer-term absentees.

Slavia sit seven points clear at the top of the Czech league after 13 matches and thrashed Jablonec 5-0 away on Saturday. Head coach Jindrich Trpisovsky, in a tenth year at the club, told Arsenal.com the winless Champions League streak is "long" and "unpleasant" and that his side must give "100%" to have a chance of ending it.

What did Arteta say about Slavia?

"Tough. A really good team. Really competitive team, great mindset," Arteta told BBC Sport. In the club transcript he said he had watched last season's Prague meeting back twice and praised Trpisovsky's decade of work: "That tells you the quality of, first, the person because to stay for 10 years somewhere, I think you need to do a lot of things right." Arsenal are unbeaten against Czech sides in major European competition (seven wins in nine) and have not conceded in three previous away games against Slavia, the club preview listed.

TuSport desk: Saliba minutes vs Dowman eligibility

We set Arsenal's official preview and Arteta's full Prague presser against BBC Sport's key lines, instead of lifting one speculative XI. The club confirms Saliba has travelled after a closed-doors 45 minutes last week and that Saka remains out with the thigh issue from Bayern; Arteta says Saliba "feels ready to go" and that centre-back minutes are an all-or-nothing load, not a cameo role; BBC Sport adds the Konsa-at-full-back option and that Dowman's Fleetwood red-card chapter is closed for selection purposes.

The exclusive desk cut is the eligibility split. Dowman's three-match domestic suspension does not apply in the Champions League, so he is available in Prague while still serving the ban at home — a fact the club states plainly and that our earlier Fleetwood appeal report already flagged for Nigerian readers tracking the 16-year-old. We do not invent a starting XI. Slavia absences (Chory disciplined, Markovic and Provod back in training, N'Guessan monitored, Schranz ill) come from Arsenal.com and stay labelled as the club's read.

For Nigerian viewers the clock is the usual winter one: 20:00 GMT in Prague is 21:00 WAT, the same late Champions League wave as RB Leipzig v Manchester City and Porto v Napoli.

Why it matters

Saliba's first minutes of the season would change Arsenal's defensive rotation before the international break, while Dowman's European availability keeps the Fleetwood red-card story live for readers who followed the appeal.
