Bayer Leverkusen came from two goals down to beat second-division Nürnberg 5-2 at the BayArena on Wednesday 28 October and reach the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal. The second-round game kicked off at 20:45 WAT.
Miroslav Klose's Nürnberg led 2-0 after half an hour, Sportschau reports. Rafael Lubach scored with a low shot from 16 metres in the 14th minute. Sigurd Haugen made it 2-0 on 30 minutes from a William Bøving cross, after Leverkusen gave the ball away.
Captain Edmond Tapsoba pulled one back four minutes before the break and levelled on 49 minutes, both times from corners. Patrik Schick, on at half-time, put Leverkusen ahead with a penalty on 70 minutes after he was fouled by Alexios Kalogeropoulos. Jonas Hofmann's deflected shot made it 4-2 on 78 minutes, and Lucas Vázquez volleyed in the fifth a minute from time.
Nigeria striker Victor Boniface came on for Hofmann for the closing minutes, ESPN's match data shows.
Bayern Munich beat Magdeburg 6-1 at the Allianz Arena, with Harry Kane on the bench. Michael Olise scored on 10 minutes, and Mateusz Żukowski equalised for Magdeburg five minutes later. Ismael Saibari restored Bayern's lead on 21 minutes, and it was 2-1 at half-time, BBC Sport's match page shows.
Olise scored again from the penalty spot on 50 minutes. Second-half substitute Alphonso Davies scored on 70 minutes and set up Nathaniel Brown three minutes later. Another substitute, David Santos Daiber, added the sixth in stoppage time.
In a game between two second-division sides, Kaiserslautern won 2-0 at Hannover. Milos Lukovic scored on 14 minutes, and substitute Ivan Prtajin headed in a Fabian Kunze cross four minutes from time. Sportschau says Kaiserslautern goalkeeper Julian Krahl was the star of the night. Hannover had 16 shots to Kaiserslautern's two by half-time and have now gone four games without a win under Sandro Wagner.
Second-division Holstein Kiel knocked out Hoffenheim 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, ESPN's match data shows. Adam Hložek put Hoffenheim ahead on 11 minutes, and Adrián Kaprálik equalised for Kiel 12 minutes later. Neither side scored in extra time.
Giorgi Kvilitaia hit the post with Kiel's first kick in the shootout, tag24 reports, but Leon Avdullahu shot over for Hoffenheim. Phil Harres scored Kiel's fifth penalty, and Mats Rots then missed for Hoffenheim, so Kiel go through to the last 16.
