Serie A matchday 9 continues on Wednesday 28 October with five games. AC Milan v Bologna, Parma v Udinese and Venezia v Inter kick off at 18:30 WAT, followed by Genoa v Juventus and Monza v Napoli at 20:45 WAT. The round ends on Thursday with Frosinone v Lecce (18:30 WAT) and Fiorentina v Atalanta (20:45 WAT).
Lazio went top on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win at Sassuolo and have 25 points from nine games. Inter, who have played one game fewer, are on 22, so a win at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo would take Cristian Chivu's side level with Lazio. Roma (21) and Como (20) also won on Tuesday.
Venezia are bottom with 3 points. They have lost seven of their first eight league games since promotion, with their only win coming against Napoli, and they were beaten 1-0 at Genoa at the weekend, Football Italia reports.
Inter play Milan in the derby on Saturday 31 October, and Italian media expect Chivu to rotate his side in Venice. Captain Lautaro Martínez is still out injured, according to Football Italia, and Sky Sport Italia and Sport Mediaset expect Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny to start up front.
Milan are fifth on 18 points and unbeaten in the league. They have won all three of their home league games this season, against Venezia, Lecce and Atalanta, and the club says Rúben Amorim is likely to make more changes with the derby in mind. Ruben Loftus-Cheek picked up a knock late in the win at Udinese. Juan Luca Sacchi is the referee.
Bologna are on 8 points. They have won both away league games since Raffaele Palladino replaced Domenico Tedesco, 2-1 at Lecce and 2-0 at Cagliari, but Holm, Orsolini and Piccoli are still unavailable, Milan's official preview says.
In the evening games, Juventus (14 points) travel to Genoa (7) without Randal Kolo Muani, Sport Mediaset reports. Napoli (11) visit newly promoted Monza (7) with Massimiliano Allegri not on the bench because of his touchline ban.
At the bottom, Parma and Udinese both have 4 points. Gazzetta says Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic needs a response after six straight defeats.
